Hoops for Heart 2012

Congratulations! St. Augustine students raised $4914.00 during Hoops for Heart to benefit the American Heart Association. The top 3 fundraisers were 2nd graders Joseph Santa Cruz with $505.00 and Mia Piscopiello with $135. 7th grader Brianna Micheletti raised $140.00. They will receive a dress down day! The top classes raising the most money were: Grades 2 & 4. They will receive a bonus PE class! The school received a $200 voucher to spend on PE equipment. A special thank you to all the parent volunteers. Great job everyone!

4 Square

The students @ St. Augustine were so happy upon returning after the summer break to find a painted 4 square in the school yard.  I have been teaching the children this game that improves hand/eye coordination and increases confidence. I have also been teaching them to help each other improve their skills in this cooperative game.

K-3 Wear your sneakers on PE Day

4 & 5 wear your Donnelly’s PE uniform to school of PE days. Grade 6 wear PE uniform on Fridays. 6-8 Bring Donnelly’s PE uniform to change for GYM.

Pre K – 2 We’ll be working on personal space, basic movement pattern, ABC yoga poses and following directions.

3-8 Lesson plans will be based on activities using a tennis ball,working on hand/eye coordination. Wallball, Pickleball (like tennis with a shorter court and paddles for racquets. Various games using a tennis ball for throwing and catching.

Top Fundraiser's

Top 3 Winners

St. Augustine students raised $5000 for the American Heart Association during our Hoops for Heart Fundraiser held on February 18th. The top 3 students were: Grade 1: Joseph Santa Cruz $340, Meah Piscapiello $125 and Grade 6: Zachery Pettraca $117. These students earned a dress down day for their efforts. Grade 1 raised the highest amount with $745.00. The Physical Education program received a certificate in the amount of $300 for PE equipment. Thank you to the parent volunteers and all students who participated for your outstanding efforts. Pictures have been posted.

Principal’s Day

St. Augustine had a school wide assembly last Thursday to honor Mrs. Morry. The chorus along with Julianna McGuirl and Delany Fenton sang “We are Family”

October PE grades 3-8


I have begun the Presidents Fitness Testing with grades 4th – 8th.
Students will be tested on: abdominal strength, upper body strength, flexibility and the shuttle run.
Students who a score in the 50% or higher will be going to Mount Pleasant in May to run the 1/2 mile or 1 mile.
